5. New Job!

So yesterday I started at Sperry Topsider. I unfortunately missed morning workouts because I had to be at International mall at 8:30 (a 1/2 hour to hour drive depending on traffic). But let me tell you, I came no short of missing out on physical activity. When I got to work we were greeted with a truck carrying 18 pallets of boxes. We unloaded all the pallets, unpacked all the boxes, and loaded up the entire store and satellite site. In case you are wondering this took 10 hours of nonstop moving, lifting, sorting, and moving again. It was really rewarding being a part of this venture and I love retail so the whole thing was a great experience. When 6:45 rolled around though, I was definitely ready to head home. After a piece of chicken and baked potato it was lights out for this chick. Back at it this morning!

4. Early to rise

Normally, the idea of being awake before the sun comes up is simply unbearable. I hate leaving my house in the dark unless I am in search of a night on the town. This week we started up our AM workouts with the team. Now I am not admitting that getting out of bed was easy, because it sucked. The only awesome part about the whole 6:30 workouts is that I have the whole day ahead of me AND at 7:3o I can say that I have already been to the gym for the day! Yes, I am totally trying to make the most of a crappy situation...but I think it is working.

On another note, Wed. I got to spend the whoooooole day out sailing! It was really awesome to get out there and sail with the kids instead of just hangin on the coach boat. I met the Barnstable High Schoolers at 9 and Jesse and I ran some demos for them in the creek. After that Jesse went to work and I went out with the kids and jumped around a few boats. I love coaching high schoolers! The kids were so eager to learn and just soaked up everything I had to say. Then 3 rolled around and I did some big kid drills with the tritons. This was also fun, but college kids are definitely a different breed. Now hopefully it will warm up!

3. < 3 day

There is nothing more refreshing than cooking up some comfort food after a looooong cooooold day! Sunday we had to coach the end of the Medelblatt regatta so we didn't exactly have valentines day to ourselves. Luckily, Jesse was nice enough to drop me off early so I could spend the afternoon cooking! When it is freezing cold there is nothing more comforting than food in the oven for a few hours.

I made Boeuf Bourguignon for the first time! (A la Julia Childs of course!) It was just as amazing as everyone says it is, and just as time consuming! This is not exactly a part of my diet, but I was going for the process. One of the things I am trying to focus on while renovating my lifestyle is finding new ways of doing things I absolutely love. Obviously cooking is one of these things. With the exception of the boeuf, I am trying to reinvent classic home cooked meals, and even come up with my own concoctions of healthier, yummy meals. Stay tuned for updates and possibly some recipes!

2. Ice Skating!

For all of you who called me crazy for bringing my skates to FL... we went ice skating last night! Clearwater Ice Arena has free skate from 8-10:30 fri nights with a dj! It was a blast. Unfortunately, I haven't been ice skating in about 6 years so I was a little rusty, but it brought back some great memories, and my calves are feelin' it today! We brought along Tim, Darbs, and Mitch who also had a great time. I definitely hope to make this a bi-weekly thing, if not weekly.

On another note, it is 45 degrees down here in sunny fl. I guess I picked a good time to hit the rink. It is quite a bummer though because I don't think it is going to warm up for a little while. Guess I better get my fill of winter sports in before the weather warms up!

Barnstable High is in town for their spring break, which I am also VERY excited about! Hopefully I will get to hop in a boat a few extra times this week and help them out, while also getting in some cardio and fresh air!

1. Back at it.

I finally made it to the gym today. Part of my goal with this blog is to force myself to get back into shape. I HATE the gym. It is indoors, boring, small, hot, stuffy, and there are few windows. Unfortunately this makes for a very boring blog, but non the less, it is one of the small things I am doing to refresh my life. When the weather gets warmer I am really looking forward to doing more things outside and taking advantage of our beautiful spot here on the water! The one nice thing about going to the gym is that it is making me crave a gigantic salad instead of a heaping pile of mac and cheese! I guess I can kill two birds with one stone...

I am open to any and many suggestions of fun active outdoor activities to mix up my boring routine of...well, nothing!

REFRESHED!!!

So, I have reinvented my blog! Some of you may have noticed my lack of posts...for about a year now. Oops! I am making it my goal to have at least 200 posts in a year, all relating to my efforts to live a healthier lifestyle. Stay tuned!
